VEUVE CLICQUOT

Veuve Clicquot Champagne is synonymous with their distinctive yellow coloured label. The unrivalled branding and cachet embodies elegance. A house that was built by Barbe-Nicol Ponsardin. Who at the age of just 27 years became the widow Clicquot. She single handily built the reputation of the house into what it is today.
Known for seeking out just one quality level, the very finest. At the time she became a widow, to be in charge of a business was not something that women were destined to do, let alone a create a leading Champagne house.
There are many things that we can attribute to the Widow Clicquot including with the help her cellar master Antoine-Aloys de Muller, the riddling process. Riddling is the art of slowly turning the bottles a quarter turn over a number of weeks, until the sediment is in the neck of the bottle. Prior to this process, the wine of the region was cloudy. It was also Veuve Clicquot that made the very first rose champagne.
Whilst the rise of grower Champagne is interested and challenges the historic norms in the Champagne market. These producers are another story, another part of the orchestra. What must not be forgotten or overlooked is the skill that houses such as Veuve Clicquot master. With production sitting at around 18 million bottles. The skill to blend the wines from over 17 different Grand Cru and 18 different premiuer cru ensuring that whether you taste a bottle in New York, London or here in Auckland, it will deliver that same exquisite style you are expecting.
